Lucerne Festival Ark Nova will be held in Fukushima from 24 October to 3 November 2015. This is the third year since the start of a support project for people affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred on March 11, 2011. The purpose of this “new Ark” was to build hope and trust through art, and to share it and become the starting point for a broader field of view. Together with Mr. Tomohide Enomoto, architect Shin Amagasaki, and Indian sculptor Anish Kapoor, this idea is embodied in a movable concert hall that can be used to inflate. Since then, Ark Nova has supported cultural reconstruction in the Tohoku region.
Lucerne Festival Ark Nova started in Matsushima in the fall of 2013 and was held in Sendai last November. Fukushima, where the “Music Ark” is anchored this year, is a region that has been severely damaged by 3.11 and remains affected. In this area, Arc Nova is not only a venue for world-class performances, but also international musicians, local musicians, artists and people who come to hear people gather together naturally. We will create a variety of spaces as places for exchange. One of the attractions of this project is that it offers more people interest by providing programs of various genres. You will be able to experience a special space where innovative architecture meets music.
